About AYNI XR
AYNI XR is an interactive globe of our planet's data, for the web browser, virtual reality and augmented reality. It shows how Earth's atmosphere, oceans, climate, fires and air quality look and change, on a sphere you can turn, zoom and walk around.

What you can do with it
- Explore Earth science data on a globe. It includes the NOAA Science On a Sphere catalogue, hundreds of datasets used by museums and schools worldwide, and live data streams from satellites and forecast models: clouds, rain, temperature, sea surface, sea level, fires, smoke and air quality.
- Use it anywhere. It works in a web browser on a computer or phone, in virtual reality on a Meta Quest headset, and in augmented reality on Android phones, where the globe floats in the room around you.
- Explore together. Open a shared room and everyone sees the same sphere, in the same room or apart. A presenter can host a meeting: they drive the globe for everyone, show their camera and microphone, and run activities, such as asking the audience to explore for a few minutes or to answer a question by pointing on the globe.
- Ask questions. An AI guide explains what is on the globe, in plain language.
Who it is for
- Schools: teachers present, and students watch and take part without accounts.
- Researchers and agencies: they compare and present data: hold a frame as a baseline and see every other frame's change, in numbers and as a map on the globe, and cite any view with a link that reopens it.
- Situation rooms: disaster management and planning teams follow the latest real-time data.
- Media: producers make footage of the data.
- Museums and visitor centres: they run shared experiences in the hall.
- Anyone curious about the planet.
Free, and paid plans
AYNI XR is free with an account: the whole Science On a Sphere catalogue and shared sessions with friends. Joining a room or a meeting through its link needs no account, so students never need one.
Plans are for people who present or work with the data. They cover hosting meetings, live data packages, and the tools for reading values from the data. A plan is a licence held by an account. Payment is by invoice; once signed in, see Plans and pricing in the account menu.
Accounts and signing in
You need a free account to use AYNI XR, except when you join a room or a meeting through its link. A licence is held by an account too. Your first sign-in creates the account, with either:
- an emailed link: you type your email address and click the one-time link we send; or
- Continue with Google. AYNI XR asks Google only for your name, email address and Google account identifier. It uses them to create your account, sign you in, and show you which account is signed in. It does not ask for your contacts, files, calendar or anything else. It does not share them, sell them, or use them for advertising.
You can delete your account at any time from Account → Delete account. That deletes everything kept for it. You can also remove AYNI XR's access from your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions. The privacy policy explains everything AYNI XR records, why, and for how long.
Lessons, and the name Khipu
With an Education plan, AYNI XR comes with lessons for grades 6 to 12.
Lessons, and the lessons teachers make from them, are saved as AYNI Khipu
files (.kpu). The name honours the khipu (quipu): knotted cords that
peoples of the Andes used for centuries, before and during the Inka empire,
to keep accounts, censuses and records. An AYNI Khipu is not a khipu and
does not claim to read one; we borrow the name with respect.
AYNI lessons are © Pachamama Studios B.V. under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. They are not for commercial use, and not for use in promotion by any company or organisation, without permission.
